Lisa Szer

Bio

Lisa was born in Israel to Holocaust survivor parents, who met at a Displaced Peoples camp after WWII and arrived in Israel in 1949. She came out in 1973. In 1975, she opened a lesbian print shop in New York City. She also worked at the Womyn’s Michigan Music Festival for several years. Lisa became a parent in 1983 and is now the “Tata” of two grandchildren. Lisa has been a major benefactor of SVARA: A Queer Radical Yeshivah, as a way to embrace Judaism, which she had felt estranged from as a lesbian. She has been honored as a Queer Jewish Elder over several cohorts of University of San Francisco undergraduates.
