Tova Green grew up in the Bronx borough of New York City in a working class Jewish family that was not ritually observant. She is a Zen Buddhist priest who has been a resident of the San Francisco Zen Center since 2002. In 2010, she co-founded the SFZC Queer Dharma group. She is also an avid cello player and practices regularly.
